Arapahoe House Names 2011 Ruston Award Recipients

Charles and Judy McNeil Given the Nonprofit Organization’s Highest Honor for Service

On August 23rd, surrounded by more than 70 friends, colleagues and fellow Arapahoe House supporters, Charles and Judy McNeil were presented with the 2011 Ruston Award for a decade of generosity and service to Arapahoe House. The private reception was held at the home of James and Kathy Crapo in Cherry Hills Village, longtime friends of the McNeils. The Ruston Award was created in memory of Harry and Florence Ruston’s dedication and service.

“The McNeil’s tremendous commitment to Arapahoe House is greatly appreciated and has had a lasting impact on our community,” said Arapahoe House CEO David Murphy. “We deeply appreciate their initiative and passion for our mission.”

The McNeils outstanding support includes volunteer service at Arapahoe House’s New Directions for Families program for women and children through the Church of Latter Day Saints, strong event leadership and generous financial contributions. Charles also serves on the board for the Arapahoe House Foundation.

“Charlie and Judy were both instrumental to the success of the Inaugural Arapahoe House Luncheon with Dr.Drew in 2010,” said Aleah Horstman, director of development. “Their dedication to those in our community suffering from substance use illness is unparalleled.”

Charles McNeil is continuing his service to Arapahoe House by serving on the corporate committee of the 2nd Annual Arapahoe House Luncheon on September 23rd. The luncheon will feature Academy-Award Winning actor Richard Dreyfuss. Mr. Dreyfuss has been in recovery from drugs and alcohol for 25 years and will deliver the keynote address at the fundraising event held at The Seawell Grand Ballroom at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The event will benefit the nonprofit organization’s life-changing addiction treatment programs and is expected to sell out. Tickets and tables are now available online at ArapahoeHouse.org.
